Invitation for involvement for schools

In June 2023, The Core at Corby Cube were one of five new partnership areas announced by the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) in the first stage of the expansion of their Associate Schools Programme (ASP).

Now, the RSC and The Core at Corby Cube are delighted to invite you to join the Corby cluster of the RSC’s Associate School Programme: an England-wide initiative that is open to primary, secondary and special state-maintained schools, built around the principle of schools working in local partnerships to develop communities of practice. Each local partnership, or cluster, consists of approximately ten Associate Schools and in many cases, a regional partner theatre. Each year, the cluster hosts two free CPD days, delivered by RSC facilitators, to introduce and develop the rehearsal room approach to Shakespeare – a core aspect of the RSC’s aim to transform the teaching of Shakespeare. There are then termly or half-termly cluster meetings, where teachers have the opportunity to share their practice, plan collaboratively and problem-solve, in an effort to embed this approach into their curricula.

At this stage, there is no cost to join the Corby cluster of the Associate Schools Programme, we just ask that schools commit to engage with the programme for at least two years, with a pair of nominated lead teachers supported by the senior management team to attend CPD days, cluster meetings and involvement in the organisation of the cluster. The benefits of joining the Associate Schools Programme are being part of a vibrant regional and national network, the opportunity to develop the teaching practices of your school and embed tools to measure impact, as well as accessing unique opportunities from both the RSC and The Core. Your students will have the chance to work with RSC artists and learning practitioners, and take part in performance festivals and other events celebrating the creativity of young people, including talent development and youth voice.
